Our mission at Reclaimed Enterprises ("RE") since it was established in July of 2014 has been to help promote the reclamation and reuse of sustainably sourced material in products and design.
When Chris Bilau of Project Advocates reached out to us to help with the Creighton University Gym Floor reclamation project we jumped at the chance. "Our firm had come across RE on several other projects and with the uniqueness of this material, I thought they could add value to the project. The very first recommendation they made was to contact Johnson Deconstruct to carefully remove the flooring to maximize reuse," Bilau states.
Our next step was to come up with a few uses for the gym flooring and help Creighton maximize its value. Applying our process to reclaimed gym flooring made a lot of sense and gave us the opportunity to help Creighton increase the viability of its sustainability initiative on campus.
"By working with RE to market, design, manufacture, and sell this piece of Creighton University's history, we have already been able to reuse the gym flooring in University projects and hope to leverage the proceeds to further our own sustainability initiatives on campus," comments, Teresa Bohnet of Creighton University's Facilities Department.
For our President & Founder, Jason Gilbreath, the project offered a chance to give something back to his alma mater. "I have never had the opportunity to contribute to Creighton in this way. I find it extremely rewarding that something I helped to create is able to have a positive impact on Creighton, our community, and our environment."
Support the reuse of Creighton's Gym Flooring and help us to Reclaim Omaha, by reserving your own piece of history.
